The Thespian's guide to Design Thinking: how we can use acting to build empathy
In this episode I'm sharing a section on empathy from the Innovation Leadership program I ran recently. Empathy is a slippery word, and it's one of the areas people struggle with the most when it comes to implementing Design Thinking. It's so hard to get out of our own skin and truly understand other people's situation.
That's where actors have an advantage - it's their job. The craft of acting has a long lineage of using empathy - seeking to more deeply understand their characters - more deeply portray their reality. We want to look at this for inspiration when it comes to effective Design Thinking.
